Shipping bare-root is the safest and most ecologically sound method for transporting dormant or juvenile fruit trees. It minimizes shipping stress, prevents soil-borne pathogens, and allows the root system to adapt directly to your local soil upon planting.

1. Immediate Arrival Care (Rehydration):
Upon arrival, the roots may appear dry—this is normal. Immediately unwrap the root ball and soak the roots in room-temperature water for 2 to 4 hours (do not exceed 12 hours) to rehydrate the plant before transferring it to soil.
2. Soil & Potting:
Plant your Wax Apple in well-draining, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5 to 6.5). If potting, use a high-quality citrus/tropical potting mix with perlite for optimal drainage. Do not use heavy garden soil in pots.
3. Light & Temperature:
Sunlight: Requires full sun (6-8 hours daily) for optimal growth and fruiting. However, for the first two weeks after planting, keep the sapling in dappled shade to acclimate and prevent leaf scorch.
Climate: Thrives in USDA Hardiness Zones 9-11. It is highly frost-sensitive. If you live in a colder climate, it must be grown in a container and moved indoors or to a heated greenhouse before temperatures drop below 40°F (4°C).
4. Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings.
