You are purchasing a Makok variety Sapodilla seedling, 5-8 inches tall (excluding pot height), to be planted in a 2.5-inch square pot.

Makok variety Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota, also known as Chiku) seedlings.

These seedlings are derived from the dwarf, excellent-tasting fruit of the Makok variety Sapodilla.

Sapodilla is a long-lived evergreen tree native to southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Sapodilla trees are medium to large trees with a pyramidal to rounded crown. This long-lived tree grows slowly but can reach 60 to 100 feet in height after many years. Sapodilla trees are well-adapted to subtropical and tropical climates. Young custard apple trees can suffer severe damage or even death at temperatures of -1 to 0°C (30 to 32°F) or lower, but mature trees can survive for several hours at temperatures around -3°C (26°F) without significant damage.

Custork apple trees are valued for their ornamental qualities and can be used in landscaping. Their leaves are evergreen.

Young custard apple trees have been observed to lose leaves or weaken due to lack of water; therefore, they should be watered regularly during dry periods. Mature custard apple trees are drought-tolerant. However, for optimal fruit yield and quality, regular irrigation is recommended during the long dry period from flowering to harvest. In home gardens, well-grown custard apple trees typically do not require regular watering to achieve satisfactory yields.

The custard apple fruit is an edible berry with a brown, scaly skin. The fruit is conical, 5 to 7.5 cm in diameter, and weighs 50 to 225 grams. The flesh is brownish-yellowish-brown and has a sweet and delicious flavor. When the fruit reaches its maximum size, it can be harvested and allowed to ripen naturally under the tree.

Trees grown from seeds are not exactly the same as the parent tree.
